radio mishaps
wow. today on breakfast of champions (wmbr.org 88.1fm woo!) i had two big, hilarious flubs. (flub. such a funny word). i’ve been thinking of them and chuckling all day.
first, i played a record at the wrong speed (!) - realized it quickly after starting it, but it sounded kind of cool during the instrumental beginning and i didn’t know how to fix it without awkwardly stopping &...
I also came home tonight to find my passport mailed back from NYC, with a 10-year Indian visa in it! That’s exciting :) I’m all set for my travel now.. in about 2.5 weeks I’ll be off to Ghana for ~5 weeks, India for a month, and finally I’ll have a 3-day layover in London to see my family as my sister gets ready for study abroad! This is going to be a great summer I...
i’ve been kind of off today, but i just found out that the funding for my salary for next year is confirmed! that’s as good a kick in the pants as any to be more productive for the rest of the day! (and week, since i may take a couple of days off for a quick trip to nyc.)

wow, i think we found our new housemate!
what a funny experience it was. i posted our open room on craigslist, and got responses from a lot of people who sounded cool. is this what online dating is like, i wondered? putting what you’re looking for out there, and getting responses from kind of self-selected people who are into that?
then i emailed back some of the coolest-sounding people,...
i am growing up! had difficult talk with difficult words earlier tonight. but it had to be done and i’m proud of myself for putting things out there. yup.

(that is an understatement.) my best friend is going to move to england. i need to find a new housemate - or find another (cheaper?) place to live. my best friend is moving across the ocean :( i will not live with my best friend any more. sadsadsad.

i’ve been having fairly crazy dreams recently (the ones that i can remember, at least), some are pretty terrible…. maybe the mefloquine is finally affecting me. i need to switch to a different malaria med this summer.
had quite a day.
i took my visiting friend to work..
i got my record player (!) in the mail but didn’t even have time to try it out yet (but i’m so excited)..
there was unhappiness because of my ice cream maker..
there was a wonderful wonderful hug delivered from FRANCE!..
there was biking to a party with said ice cream maker on my back (it just fit in my bag)..
there was a fun...
ahhhh get me back to boston already!!
i’ve been counting down the days, now that it’s under a week i’m hoping it will fly by. dare i say i am excited for my 5 flights back? (i know, crazy. two with no plane change at least..) i want to be back with friends and work and wmbr and concerts and my bed and dependable power and clean water and ice cream and cheese.

oh yeah, i’ll be in GHANA over the summer!! i’m going to be an organizer for IDDS 2011. (just found out tonight). i couldn’t be much more excited.
leaving for TZ in about 26 hrs!
that makes FIVE couples who have become engaged over the last couple of days! wowza. i was so not prepared for this. have other people noticed similar phenomena? i’ve got 3 MIT people (two together, awww), my best friend from elementary school, and 2 people from high school. wow.
somehow it took until tonight, as i get my room ready for a subletter, less than 3 days before i fly off to tanzania for five weeks, to 1) clean my room for the first time since I moved in, 2) put stuff up on the walls, and 3) use this time to watch TED talks and the like to learn, rather than watching stupid tv like i usually do. (although i will probably watch glee later :))

yay! i finally jumped on the delicious bandwagon a couple months ago and although i don’t think i’m really using it optimally yet, i’m being much better...
so that post about weezer last night? it got me a (free) row RR ticket for tonight… instead of the row X ticket I am currently holding. I’M SO EXCITED. (and i’m going to pay it forward - someone is getting my current ticket for free :))

somehow i had my first bike fall tonight, while i was basically stationary, and nothing was happening. i felt strangely off-balance as i tried to push off and then when i was stopped before crossing the road i just… toppled over. fell on my hand/wrist/hip/ankle (hi bruises!) but i seem to be fine.. wrist feels a little funky.
