wow, i think we found our new housemate!
what a funny experience it was. i posted our open room on craigslist, and got responses from a lot of people who sounded cool. is this what online dating is like, i wondered? putting what you’re looking for out there, and getting responses from kind of self-selected people who are into that?
then i emailed back some of the coolest-sounding people, and set up times for them to come and visit. the first person to come was someone i had seen but not been introduced to the night before at the light festival!! (i think i opened the door and said ‘whoa, i recognize you!’) - who is dating a guy who used to live in the same coop as my good friend! anyway, we got along really well and i was worried that the rest of the visits would be like that and i was kind of sad about having to eventually decide…
but then the next visits were mostly just ok (and occasionally uncomfortably long). and we’re eager to end the process… so i think we’re done! today we sent an email saying (essentially) ‘we like you’ to the first person, and got one back saying (basically) ‘cool, i like you too!’
i’m excited. [but still super sad that my best friend is moving away :(((((]
so… is this what online dating is like?! :P
(also, we eventually decided not to skype interview people, but i had already emailed some not-local, cool-sounding people, so now i kind of want to say, ummm do you still want to be friends maybe?! especially the girl with the “fun” vinyl collection!)
