radio mishaps
wow. today on breakfast of champions (wmbr.org 88.1fm woo!) i had two big, hilarious flubs. (flub. such a funny word). i’ve been thinking of them and chuckling all day.
first, i played a record at the wrong speed (!) - realized it quickly after starting it, but it sounded kind of cool during the instrumental beginning and i didn’t know how to fix it without awkwardly stopping & fumbling & restarting… but then when the vocals started, it just sounded ridiculous so i switched from 33 to 45 rpm (which was also ridiculous).
when i saw one of my coworkers today, he started by talking reallllly sloooow and then all of a sudden at normal speed.. and i laughed louder than i have laughed in a long time (that’s really loud). did not know he was listening.
flub #2: i was giving away concert tickets and several phone lines were ringing. i picked up the first line and it sounded like my good friend who i had talked to about seeing the show, so i had a goofy response like oOohhhh, hellOooooo.. (you know?) and then started to worry that that wasn’t my friend, and put him on hold to tell other callers they were too late… ALL WHILE MY MIC WAS STILL ON. so it was me talking over this song (was an instrumental part, of course) and sounding totally goofy, and talking to a stranger in a totally goofy way. i finally noticed the mic light still on, just before some guy called to tell me, and my mom texted me… lol.
